The world is bonkers Why is the world so bonkers at the moment? Here's some examples... In the UK the Labour, Conservative and Reform parties are hung up on not increasing our tax, when the public services are shadow of their former selves. Cutting tax will just erode the situation even further. The inequality of income in the UK is very high compared to other developed countries, and the inequality of wealth is even more severe. Huge numbers of people require the use of food banks, while it is also commonplace to own multiple properties, privately educate, think nothing of trips abroad, etc. We need to start to address this to provide a fairer society. ...and some more important global issues... Scientists have warned about our climate for decades, and it may or may not be too late to save our world (even now it appears that we don't know this with any certainty, even if we provide a dramatic change to our behaviour), but consumption of fossil fuels perpetuates, international tourism is booming, and your average person shows little concern. Climate denial is common place, even though we are increasing aware of huge threats right now. There are more than 8 billion people on earth. We add a billion people every 12 to 15 years. This is unsustainable. Additionally, capitalist societies require increasing populations for economic growth. Something needs to change to break this population growth. The AI "GodFather" Professor Geoffrey Hinton has recently warned us of the risks to humanity over artifical intelligence. Even though there are billions of people on the globe, evidently the work performed by everyone needs to be replaced by AI. In future there will be no need for any human creativity, and new sinister machines of war will be built based on AI technology. There is a mad dash to a science fiction world, and it appears that nothing will stop it. When countries on our globe should be getting together to provide a consensus on how to overcome these existential threats, we see a rise in right-wing populism, a rise of violence and war, a rise in the number of people who are finding that they have decreased wealth and that life is increasingly difficult, and an increasing number of migrants and refugees who move to countries often hostile to their presence. You can argue that these are logical outcomes from the issues that we are facing. Unless we act all of these things will just get worse. There will be a downward spiral. All of these issues originate from human activity. I don't hold out much hope. If I'm honest I'd vote Green as I'm not sure whether anyone else comes close.
